The Endbringer's Thoughts Issue 3: Summerslam Review

Hey all. Back again for my look at how Summerslam fared PPV-wise. We all know it sure was hyped enough (That song went from awesome to gruesome in about 2 weeks), but did it live up to the hype?

Yes and no, mostly yes. The Venis/D-Lo match was good except for a brutal ending, which either started a heel turn for the Big Valbowski or some other unexpected thing, I really don't see why D-Lo should keep the title, he needs a lot more work on his gimmick.

The Oddities/Kaientai match was another reason why the light heavyweights should get a push, now. The Oddities are great and all, but these guys are in Taka's shadow, and Vinnie needs to get the light-heavyweight title scene going again.

The Jarrett/X-Pac match was good for two reasons: 1) 2 great athletes giving it their all, 2) Jarrett got his hair cut!!!!! More importantly, Jarrett is finally getting the heat he so richly deserves, good job JJ.

The mixed tag match gave Sable the chance to prove herself as a wrestler God knows she's proved herself every other way!). However, Edge shouldn't get tied into this , he's not the valet type and a Gangrel feud would be much more intriguing.

The Owen/Shamrock match was a little short but was a good one, Severn didn't get involved, which is a plus for Ken. The Beast doesn't want to be a heel, and personally I want to see him turn on the Black Hart and go face, not necessarily with Shamrock.

The tag team title match; well, let's just say that ol' Vince was right: Mankind getting his ass kicked spells ratings.

Rock and HHH was a classic, lived up to expectations and more, and even though Chyna interfered, it shoudl be interesting to see what The Rock does now. Just don't make him do the, "I'm still the people's champ" thing, he deserves better.

The main event: well you guys know, I don't have to tell ya it was great. Taker was a man of his word and kept it one on one. Interesting note: I was pulling for the Taker to win, and yet later I realized that Austin has had the strap for only 5 months or so, not that long for one of the most popular WWF champs in history.........I believe that Taker will once again be champ, just not yet, Stone Cold deserves to hold on to the belt for a while.

So overall, this was a great PPV. Good variety in matches, and two killer last matches. It's too bad that they can't carry the momentum through to RAW, as far as I know it's not on in Canada, I don't know if it's on at all, isn't it the US Open pre-empting thing? If someone wants to clear that up, much appreciation.

Well, that's all for this issue....stay tuned next week for issue # 4....... same Endbringer time, same Endbringer place, same....ah forget it......
